The Footprints Of Crane In The Snow.

(Today I was reading "A Loyal Character Dancer" by Qiu Xiaolong when I came across the line by Su Dongpo, one of China's most famous poets below. I liked it so today's post is about footprints.)

Life is like the footprint left by a solitary crane in the snow, visible for one moment, and then is gone.

- Su Dongpo

I left my footprints on the sand, for the approaching tide.

What The Grinch Learned About Christmas

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons.
It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes or bags.

And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.

What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”

- Dr. Seuss

There are still many men who have not learn what The Grinch did - even after the movie came out.

“When Christmas bells are swinging above the fields of snow, we hear sweet voices ringing from lands of long ago, and etched on vacant places are half-forgotten faces of friends we used to cherish, and loves we used to know.”

- Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I think everyone should find some quiet moment during Christmas to remember old friends when our hearts are most full of love.

And In Spring Becomes The Rose.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long,

and you think that love is only

for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter

far beneath the bitter snows

lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose.

- Bette Midler

For some

Spring is the time for renewed hope.

April is the cruelest month,
breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land,
mixing
Memory and desire,
stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.

- T.S.Eliot

For others

Spring is the cruelest season.

On A Snowy Winter Evening.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sounds the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

- Robert Frost

I stopped by the woods on a snowy evening

There to bury my secrets and leave.

Someone painted pictures on my
Windowpane last night --

Willow trees with trailing boughs

And flowers, frosty white,

And lovely crystal butterflies;

But when the morning sun

Touched them with its golden beams,

They vanished one by one.

- Helen Bayley Davis, Jack Frost

Then up came the sun and

My secrets melted away with the snow.
