I Remember The Time I Knew What Happiness Was.

(Stir up some memories today.)

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

- Musical "Cats" lyrics - Memory

Memories
Like the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?

Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply to choose to forget

So it’s the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

- Barbra Streisand - The Way We Were

Memory flows softly
Like wind through trees.
And where it touches,
The leaves quiver.

And my heart flutters.

The Eye Is Not Reliable For It Can Only See.

(Today I listened to the explanations of an eye doctor.)

“There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart...pursue those.”

- Michael Nolan

But too often we don't try to see further than what the eyes can see.

“The loveliest faces are to be seen by moonlight, when one sees half with the eye and half with the fancy”

- Persian Proverb

Where we cover the blemishes and enhance the glow.

Have You Got The Mail You Want?

(Today I go mails but I miss one.)

“I turn on my computer. I wait patiently as it connects. I go online. My breath catches in my chest until I hear 3 little words, "You've got mail." I hear nothing, not a sound on the streets of New York. Just the beat of my own heart. I have mail...from you.”

- "You've got mail" (Movie)

It is amazing how a mail can brighten up even a cloudy day.

“President Bush said for security reasons, he's sworn off all e-mail communication. He will not be using email at the White House at all. Is that a good idea? I mean, it's not like that speaking thing was working out so good.”

- Jay Leno

Unlike speaking, e-mail can at least be checked first before sending.

Painting Is Silent Poetry, Poetry is Eloquent Painting.

(Today I wrote a story about a painting - The Painting of Endless Sorrow in The Ghosts & I).

If we could but paint with the hand what we see with the eye.

- Honore De Balzac

If we could but paint with the hand what we feel with our heart.

Painting is silent poetry, poetry is eloquent painting.

- Simonides of Ceos

They tell the same story in different ways.

Squeezing My Heart Into Little Inkdrops & Posting It.

I am tired, Beloved,
of chafing my heart against
the want of you;
of squeezing it into little inkdrops,
And posting it.

- Amy Lowell, The Letter

Who still write letters anymore?

Sir, more than kisses, letters mingle souls.

- John Donne

That is what we miss.

Finding Christmas Under A Tree.

(This is my Christmas tree. This year it won't be glittering in our house. We lent it to a friend to decorate her shop for its opening, see Ghost Walk. While our house is a little empty this year yet we delight in it being seen and enjoyed by thousands.)

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

-Roy L. Smith

And he who has Christmas in his hear will find joy under a tree.

"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.""

- Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol)

If only we can keep Christmas in our heart the whole year through.

When Beauty Retreats To The Heart.

Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.

- Martin Buxbaum

Where it is harder to be seen and thus only appreciated by those not overtaken by the beauty of surface.

It matters more what's in a woman's face than what's on it.

- Lois P. Frankel

But most men can't go deeper than the beauty of a face.

Bait With Your Heart When You Fish For Love.

(Tonight I made a few new friends by taking a chance. Two of them Happy Feet and Kurau King have been bantering with me over the net without us ever met. We had a happy meal with fish that Kurau King caught. It was a sumptuous feast and I dedicate today's post to the king of fishermen.)

“When you fish for love, bait with your heart, not your brain”

- Mark Twain

With the correct bait, you can catch anything.

- Kurau King

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing it is not fish they are after.”

- Henry David Thoreau

That is why a real fishing enthusiast returns with a smile even if the net is empty. For it is always about the fishing, not the catch.

The Wise Pays A High Price To Be Wise.

“It is strange how often a heart must be broken before the years can make it wise”

- Sara Teasdale

The wise pays a high price to be wise.

“It is better to weep with wise men than to laugh with fools”

- Spanish Proverb

Only trouble is wise men weep too often and laugh too infrequent.

Can One Be A Poet If He Doesn't Write A Single Line?

He who draws noble delights from sentiments of poetry is a true poet, though he has never written a line in all his life.

- George Sand, 1851

A true poet is one who took delights in poetry, not necessarily one writes it.

- Ghostwise

~~~~~~~~~~"
The poet is in the end probably more afraid of the dogmatist who wants to extract the message from the poem and throw the poem away than he is of the sentimentalist who says, "Oh, just let me enjoy the poem."
- Robert Penn Warren
Poetry are meant to be enjoyed with the heart not the mind.
Possessions Diminished By Possession.
“Do not give in too much to feelings. A overly sensitive heart is an unhappy possession on this shaky earth.”
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
He is burdened with an unhappy possession. He feels too much.
